Degrees Awarded
Robert D. Ellis – now "Dr. Ellis" – completed and defended his dissertation this Fall, entitled, “Ecological effects of Red Grouper (Epinephelus morio) in Florida Bay. Dr. Ellis is finishing a John A. Knauss Policy Fellowship in Washington, DC, before moving on to a position as a research scientist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Congrats, Bob!
Guy Harvey Scholarships
Two FSUCML Graduate Students Receive Prestigious Awards in 2015. Brendan Talwar (M. Sc. Student, Advisor Dr. D. Grubbs) and Chris Malinowski (Ph. D. Student, Advisor Dr. F Coleman) received Guy Harvey Scholarships. This scholarship is funded by the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation and is administered by Florida Sea Grant. Brendan’s scholarship will be used in his research estimating the post-release mortality rate for the Cuban Dogfish and Gulper Sharks, while Chris will use his scholarship to evaluate how the bioaccumulation of heavy metals, particularly mercury, affects the health, reproduction, and survival of Goliath Grouper.
2016 FSUCML Scholarship Recipients
We are pleased to announce the 2016 recipients of the FSU Coastal and Marine Laboratory Graduate Student Research Scholarships. Recipients receive $1,000 each and use the Marine Lab as a base for conducting their graduate research. Awards go to:
