Local Residents Support Discovery Hall

Tallahassee residents David and Jennifer Bailey recently pledged $100,000 toward the construction of the Jennifer Pepper Bailey and David L. Bailey Research Laboratory within Discovery Hall.

“We have been attending the FSUCML Lecture Series for many years," the Baileys shared. “The featured presenters, whether faculty or visiting scholars, are always top of their field, and we have had the pleasure of meeting these many dedicated individuals working in marine and coastal research and discipline.”

When asked about why they found it important to support FSUCML, the couple explained, “We probably know more about outer space then we do about how our oceans and coastal areas contribute to our planet. The oceans are the last frontier in a sense. These discoveries are only possible if curious people, like those at the FSU Coastal and Marine Laboratory, are supported in their quests for answers.”

Ed Mansouri Gift to Discovery Hall

The FSU Coastal and Marine Laboratory is one step closer to reaching new heights in research, outreach and education thanks to a generous gift from FSU alumnus and Tallahassee-based tech innovator Ed Mansouri. Mansouri has gifted $100,000 toward the construction of a new, state-of-the-art facility—Discovery Hall—that will be the centerpiece for increased research capacity geared towards protecting Florida’s coastal and marine resources and the economies that depend upon them.

“Ed’s gift towards construction of Discovery Hall puts us on the road to tremendously expanding the breadth of the marine research conducted by scientists working at the Marine Lab,” said Felicia Coleman, director of FSUMCL.  Photo of Ross Ellington (Associate VP for Research), Felicia Coleman (FSUCML Director), and Ed Mansouri (WeatherStem).
