Postdoctoral Scholar – Job ID# 51464

Florida State University’s Coastal and Marine Lab (FSUCML) is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar to join our interdisciplinary team of researchers working in quantitative ecology to support our work on the decline and recovery in Apalachicola Bay. The FSUCML is located on the northeastern Gulf of Mexico coast in a relatively undeveloped area of rich biological diversity and social and cultural history, known as the “Forgotten Coast.” The postdoctoral scholar will be based at the FSUCML, one hour from the FSU main campus in Tallahassee.

The MISSION of the FSUCML is to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research that contributes to solving ecological problems and providing the scientific foundation for informed policy decisions.

The VISION for the FSUCML is to be an internationally recognized center for coastal and marine science, setting the agenda for research and education and remaining a trusted source for scientific advice.

The selected applicant will be broadly tasked with 1) leading the leveraging of existing datasets to explore how changing fish and invertebrate communities influence energy flow through the bay and 2) assisting in developing decision-support tools for guiding oyster restoration and management. In addition to conducting their own research, the postdoc will have the opportunity to develop mentorship skills training, work with graduate and undergraduate students, and participate in grant writing and submission.
