Data Legacy Project

Exploring the Historical Data of the Coastal and Marine Habitats of the Forgotten Coast

The Data Legacy Project seeks to honor and preserve the work of researchers and scientists working in the Nature Coast region, with the goal aiding future research. By aggregating, preserving, and analyzing historical data provided by experts, these data provide opportunities to enhance our understanding of our region and gain a historical perspective of environmental conditions. Over the years, researchers, marine biologists, environmental scientists, and local experts have gathered extensive information on the area's water quality, marine life, habitat conditions, and the impacts of human activity. By making these diverse data sets freely available, the Data Legacies project aims to create a comprehensive and accessible repository of knowledge that can be integrated with new data to inform conservation efforts, guide sustainable development, and support policymaking that ensures the long-term health and resilience of the Nature Coast. Also, we believe that the legacy data accessible furthers the professional legacies and impacts of researchers from our area and continues their impact on the region long after their work is completed.
