Laura Anthony, a Ph.D. student under Dr. Sandra Brooke, has been awarded the Jack Winn Gramling Award in Marine Biology from FSU! Laura’s research focuses on how the environment affects the reproduction of several species of deep-sea coral across the globe. Using a technique called histology, Laura looks at the coral egg and sperm cells to learn how they reproduce and to examine their overall health. The Jack Winn Gramling Award will not only help with purchasing lab equipment and publishing her research, but will help Laura finish a project comparing the reproduction of deep-sea coral reefs across the North Atlantic.
