Stewardship Coordinator – Job ID# 58154

The FSU Coastal & Marine Lab (FSUCML https://marinelab.fsu.edu/), seeks a full-time position to serve as a Stewardship Coordinator at the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR), located approximately 1 ½ hours southwest of Tallahassee in Eastpoint.  

Responsibilities

Responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating resource management activities such as prescribed burning, exotic species removal, habitat restoration and conservation, listed species protection and enhancement, vegetation monitoring, cultural resource monitoring and protections, providing public access/use of resources, supporting research and monitoring to address priority management issues.

Responsible for providing and maintaining recreational activities for public access/use of suitable upland recreation areas that are consistent with resource protection management goals of ANERR. Coordinates with other sectors at to develop stewardship events, outreach materials, etc. to promote public use that is compatible with resource management goals.

 Responsible for managing administrative tasks including collaborating with Administrative and Budget staff on purchasing needs. Ensures that office records and files are properly maintained. Execute the goals of the ANERR Management Plans. Attends and represents RCP at various meetings and makes presentations as needed to ensure that the public and other agencies are aware of site-specific issues and management objectives. Conducts ANERR’s Land Management Review in coordination with EM every 5 years. Responsible for supervising two positions in Stewardship Section. 

Education and Outreach: Actively assists with educating the public to promote informed stewardship practices and addresses priority management needs. Conducts educational activities to better inform stakeholders with the natural resources and resource protection needs of ANERR-managed uplands.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marine science, biology, wildlife, fisheries, natural resources, environmental science or a related field or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a post-high school education and experience equal to six years.) Two to four years of professional experience in natural resource management.

Ability to meet physical requirements as determined by position, including the ability to move 50 lbs. and perform field work in harsh conditions.  

A valid Florida or Georgia  Driver's License, Class E or the ability to obtain one

Current CPR Certification and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain them.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to make technical presentations to professional groups, state and federal agencies, and resource managers concerning the Reserve’s programs and results.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.

Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.

Ability to perform biological monitoring and habitat management in harsh field conditions.

Ability to: collect, analyze and interpret scientific data; prepare technical reports, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to environmental programs.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipated starting salary to range between mid $40,000's to low $50,000's, commensurate with education and experience.
