Scientific divers from FSU joined the FIO Peerside Program to participate in a joint project aimed at studying archaeology, marine biology, and geology of offshore springs in the Gulf of Mexico. The dive team included representatives from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, FSU's Academic Diving Program, and the National Association of Black Scuba Divers (NABS). Students from across the country joined the scientific team as part of the Peerside mission to broaden access and ongoing involvement with the ocean through an innovative program that increases and sustains social, educational, technical, and professional support and builds community for ocean Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
