TEE-riffic day to play golf and raise funds for graduate student research!

The Florida State University Coastal and Marine Lab and Wakulla Sands Golf Club hosted an incredibly successful 4th annual Play for the Bay Benefit Golf Tournament on Friday, October 24th, 2025. The event hosted eighteen teams with ten sponsors that helped to raise over $16,000 for FSUCML graduate student research.

The purpose of Play for the Bay is to raise funds for graduate student research that reach beyond university and grant funding. This money will go directly to FSUCML graduate students to assist in the purchasing of lab equipment, boat and truck rentals, fuel, and funding research trips as applicable.

The FSUCML would like to congratulate our winning team Salty Dog Construction, sponsored by Chirs Brown. Chris Brown was also the winner of our putting contest and got to take home an original, signed Guy Harvey print as a first-place prize.

The FSUCML would like to extend a huge thank you to Wakulla Sands Golf Club for being such incredible hosts. We’d also like to thank all our generous sponsors – (Estuary Sponsors) Crawfordville Rentals, Door Products, Southern Standard Construction, and Air Con of Wakulla; (Team Sponsor) Water Street Seafood; (Hole Sponsors) Coastal Heating & Air, Prime Meridian Bank, TREMCO, MARPAN Recycling, and Eli Roberts & Sons.

If you were not able to attend this year’s event, but are interested in supporting the FSUCML, be sure to check our website and social media for the announcement of next year’s Play for the Bay Benefit Golf Tournament.
