Grant will help FSU aid in restoration of Apalachicola Bay | Opinion


Dr. Gary Ostrander, Vice President for Research at Florida State University, provides an overview of FSU’s newly awarded project, the Apalachicola Bay System Initiative, funded in part by the Triump Gulf Coast fund. He makes it clear that FSU wants to hear from the community, one vechicle of which will be “ . . . an advisory board of community stakeholders to weigh in as we consider the best steps forward.”

In the aftermath of hurricane Michael, FSUCML’s Dr. Felicia Coleman and Dr. Sandra Brooke were interviewed by Robin Young and Karyn Miller-Medzon for Boston’s NPR news station WBUR. Also interviewed were Georgia Ackerman, Apalachicola Riverkeeper and Roy Ogles – Riverkeeper member. The subject of the interview was the Apalachicola River and the oyster industry.
